Nordstrom Drops Ivanka Trump Clothing Brand

Nordstrom Will Not be Purchasing Ivanka Trump Brand for the Upcoming Season

Soon Americans will have a harder time finding Ivanka Trump clothing line in stores. Nordstrom pulled the plug on Ivanka Trump clothing line due to her sales steadily declining.

I think you could guess what comes next… yep you guessed right, a tweet from Donald Trump accusing Nordstrom of treating his daughter “terribly” when in fact Nordstrom claims to have notified Ivanka Trump personally about the news in Janurary.  She was not in the dark at all about this situation, Nordstrom has had several meetings in the past to openly discuss sales with the Ivanka Trump team.

The move by Nordstrom comes amid a social media campaign called “Grab Your Wallet,” urging a boycott of stores that stock Ivanka Trump or Donald Trump products.

Last November, Nordstrom defended its decision to sell Ms. Trump’s products. “We hope that offering a vendor’s products isn’t misunderstood as us taking a political position,” the company wrote on Twitter on Nov. 2. “We’re not.” Despite all the fuss about politics, Nordstrom strictly made their decision to remove Ivan Trumps brand based on performance.

There are a number of ways Nordstrom could have gone about dealing with this situation, but because Ivanka Trumps is closely associated with Donald Trumps name I believe it could have been handled in a more timely fashion. Negative attention could have been avoided if Nordstrom would have kept their customers in the loop with multiple press releases following this subject, obviously there is a positive side to this situation as well; Nordstrom stock price increased by 3 precent. Trump supporters on the other hand had a different view on Ivanka Trumps brand being pulled from Nordstrom, claiming to stop shopping at Nordstrom until Ivanka Trumps line was back in stores. More communication would have avoided uproar in the media.
